COVID-19 NOTICE 

UPDATE: Feb. 7, 2021

Fire Dragon Taekwondo will Re-open with limited in person classes combined with zoom training beginning Tue. Feb. 9th. Zoom classes only on Monday Feb. 8th.

Children and youth will be allowed to participate in limited school and team sport activities.

  • Lessons, practices and conditioning activities are allowed for indoor and outdoor, team-based, minor sports/activities and school athletics.
  • Games are not allowed.
  • All participants must be 18 years old or younger, except coaches or trainers.
  • Maximum of 10 total individuals, including all coaches, trainers, and participants.
  • Physical distancing must be maintained between participants at all times:
    • 3-metres physical distance for indoor activities
    • 2-metres physical distance for outdoor activities
    • coaches or trainers may enter physical distancing space for brief interactions with participants (for example, to correct form or technique)
  • Participants must be masked at all times, except during the training activity. Coaches/trainers/etc. must remain masked at all times.
  • Access to change rooms must be limited, including accelerated arrival and departure, emergencies (for example, first aid) and washroom use.

The path forward

Public health measures will be eased in steps based on hospitalization benchmarks.

Each step sets a more predictable path for easing restrictions, while protecting the health system.

Once hospitalizations are within range of the benchmark, decisions to move to the next step will be considered. The lowest-risk activities in each sector will be considered for change first.

Moving between steps will happen at least 3 weeks apart to assess the impact on cases.

Steps based on hospitalization benchmarks

STEP 1 – Feb 8th
<600 hospitalizations		 STEP 2 – at least 3 weeks later
<450 hospitalizations		 STEP 3
<300 hospitalizations		 STEP 4
<150 hospitalizations

  • Restaurants
  • Indoor fitness
  • Indoor and outdoor children’s sport and performance (school-related)
 Potential easing in these areas:

  • Retail
  • Banquet halls
  • Community halls
  • Conference centres
  • Hotels
  • Futher easing of indoor fitness and children’s sport and performance
 Potential easing in these areas:

  • Adult team sports
  • Casinos, racing centres and bingo halls
  • Indoor social gatherings, with restrictions
  • Indoor seated events (movie theatres and auditoria)
  • Libraries
  • Museums, art galleries, zoos, interpretive centres
  • Places of worship
 Potential easing in these areas:

  • Amusement parks
  • Concerts (indoor)
  • Festivals (indoor and outdoor)
  • Funeral receptions
  • Indoor entertainment centres and play centres
  • Performance activities (singing, dancing and wind instruments)
  • Sporting events (indoor and outdoor)
  • Tradeshows, conferences and exhibiting events
  • Wedding ceremonies and receptions
  • Workplaces (lift working from home)

ZOOM CLASS SCHEDULE TO BE ANNOUNCED LATER THIS WEEK

ALBERTA – Enhanced Public Health Measures

Effective Nov. 27, new restrictions will limit the amount of contact between people in the community.  These measures apply to all communities on the enhanced list (purple areas). Indoor fitness, recreation, sports and physical activity centres, including dance and yoga studios, martial arts, gymnastics and private or public swimming pools. Facilities can be open for individual studio time, training or exercise only. There can be no group fitness, group classes, group training, team practices or games. Instructors can use facility to broadcast virtual fitness classes from, but there can be no group class.

Mandatory restriction: Masks are mandatory in all indoor workplaces, except when working alone in an office or a safely distanced cubicle or an appropriate barrier is in place

  • This applies to all employees, visitors, delivery personnel and contractors
  • This includes all locations where employees are present and masks won’t pose a safety risk

 

 

UPDATE: NOV. 17, 2020 at 3:11 PM

We spoke with  AHS, Environmental Public Health, today and confirmed our understanding of the information below to be true.  They did state that the province posted some information contrary to this earlier today but has since rescinded it as it was posted in error. Environmental Public Health said we were fine to continue our classes as normal and that they will personally phone us if or when this information changes.

Fire Dragon Taekwondo is Currently Open and Running Classes

Hello Everyone,

I’m sure with all that is happening in the news, that many parents are confused as to whether or not Taekwondo classes will be closed for 2 weeks.

Taekwondo Alberta has reached out to the Government for clarification on who needs to close and who does not. The following is what we received today at 4:10 PM

The health order, just released by Chief medical officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, states that:
This order does not apply to a person attending or an operator of a business or entity, providing or hosting an individual sport activity where participants can maintain a minimum of 2 metres distances from each other at all times.

Since Fire Dragon Taekwondo Re-opened in June, we have practiced social distancing, spacing our members 2.5 – 3 metres apart. As such, the order does not apply to Fire Dragon Taekwondo, as we meet the guidelines; of participants maintaining a minimum of 2 metres distances from each other at all times. HPAC will also maintain social distancing, while this order is in effect.
