COVID-19 NOTICE
UPDATE: Sept. 19, 2021
Covid-19 Protocols Update
Hello Everyone,
On September 15th the Government of Alberta declared a state of public health emergency and changes to the Covid-19 protocols and vaccination requirements.
The only way we are able to continue full operations and classes is by implementing the Provincial Restrictions Exemption Program.
Here’s how these changes will affect our members at Fire Dragon Taekwondo.
1 – Proof of Vaccination (Single doses are ok beginning September 20th and Double doses beginning October 25th), a privately paid Negative Covid test result (within 72 hours) or medical exemption note from your doctor or nurse practitioner for everyone over the age of 18 and up (including members, parents and guests) must be provided to be in our facility.
We recommend members 12+ to be vaccinated, as AHS rules could change at any time.
We understand that this is a controversial issue but our only other option is not to run our full program for all members. We want to continue the best experience we can offer to our members.
Click here to obtain PROOF OF VACCINATION QUICKLY.
2 – All persons entering the facility must review Covid screening before coming into the facility. If you show ANY signs or symptoms, PLEASE DO NOT come to the facility. We ask diligence for all our members and guest to help us continue to be able to provide a safe and healthy training environment for everyone. Anyone showing up displaying any symptoms will be asked to leave until symptoms are gone.

3 – Masking and social distancing is required in common areas such as the coming into and out of the facility. Masks are not required while doing physical activity and therefore not required on the mats. It is your personal choice to wear a mask during training.
4 – Vaccinated Parents and spectators will only be allowed to watch class during their introductory trial period, but you must remain socially distanced.
5 – Please continue to Sanitize your hands before and after classes.
6 – Use of Changerooms is still limited, please arrive in your training outfit.
7 – Please do not arrive more than 5 mins before your class. We need time in between classes to let the previous class out and sanitize the training area before your class.
8 – We will start simulcasting all classes, on ZOOM, for those members that will not be able to attend in person training beginning Monday, Sept. 20th
We want to sincerely thank everyone for your support and understanding as we continue to endure the rollercoaster of Covid-19 restrictions and policies.
Respectfully,
Master Pellerin

The path forward
Public health measures will be eased in steps based on hospitalization benchmarks.
Each step sets a more predictable path for easing restrictions, while protecting the health system.
Once hospitalizations are within range of the benchmark, decisions to move to the next step will be considered. The lowest-risk activities in each sector will be considered for change first.
Moving between steps will happen at least 3 weeks apart to assess the impact on cases.
Steps based on hospitalization benchmarks
STEP 1 – Feb 8th <600 hospitalizations |
STEP 2 – at least 3 weeks later <450 hospitalizations |
STEP 3 <300 hospitalizations |
STEP 4 <150 hospitalizations |

We spoke with AHS, Environmental Public Health, today and confirmed our understanding of the information below to be true. They did state that the province posted some information contrary to this earlier today but has since rescinded it as it was posted in error. Environmental Public Health said we were fine to continue our classes as normal and that they will personally phone us if or when this information changes.

Fire Dragon Taekwondo is Currently Open and Running Classes
Hello Everyone,
I’m sure with all that is happening in the news, that many parents are confused as to whether or not Taekwondo classes will be closed for 2 weeks.
Taekwondo Alberta has reached out to the Government for clarification on who needs to close and who does not. The following is what we received today at 4:10 PM
The health order, just released by Chief medical officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, states that:
This order does not apply to a person attending or an operator of a business or entity, providing or hosting an individual sport activity where participants can maintain a minimum of 2 metres distances from each other at all times.
Since Fire Dragon Taekwondo Re-opened in June, we have practiced social distancing, spacing our members 2.5 – 3 metres apart. As such, the order does not apply to Fire Dragon Taekwondo, as we meet the guidelines; of participants maintaining a minimum of 2 metres distances from each other at all times. HPAC will also maintain social distancing, while this order is in effect.
PLEASE SEE THE HEALTH ORDER – FROM DR. DEENA HINSHAW
