About Fire Dragon Taekwondo | Korean Karate in Medicine Hat

Serving Southern Alberta since 1983, Fire Dragon Taekwondo is a Kukkiwon-certified martial arts academy located in Medicine Hat, Alberta. We are dedicated to providing world-class Taekwondo education, high-performance athletic coaching, and comprehensive family programs that build discipline, confidence, and physical fitness.

Our Leadership & History

Master Mark Pellerin | Founder & Head Instructor

Fire Dragon Taekwondo was established in 1983 by 7th Dan Kukkiwon Master Mark Pellerin. His lifelong Taekwondo journey began at age 12 in Dresden, Ontario, culminating in his first Black Belt in 1978. After relocating to Brooks, Alberta, he opened his first school under the affiliation of the renowned Grand Master K. H. Min. Over the past four decades, Master Pellerin’s commitment to martial arts excellence has driven the school's expansion across Brooks, Bassano, and Medicine Hat.

Master Eunhye (Annie) An-Pellerin | Head Coach, Poomsae Team

In 2011, our leadership team expanded with the arrival of Master Annie from Seoul, South Korea. A six-time National Black Belt Champion, Master Annie brings elite international experience to our students. Her early competitive achievements include bronze medals at the 2nd East Asian Games (1997) and the Korea Open Chuncheon International Taekwondo Championships (2000). Throughout her coaching career, she has successfully trained 10 Canadian National Champions. Today, she brings this proven track record of elite athlete development to her role as Head Coach of our Poomsae Team.

Leading by example, Master Annie remains an active and highly decorated Poomsae competitor on the global stage. Her 2025 accolades include Gold medals at both the Canadian Nationals and the Kim Un-yong Cup International Open, alongside Silver medals at the US Open, Canadian Open, and Chuncheon Korea Open. Dedicated to continuous growth, she actively refines her skills by training with World Poomsae Champion Master Lee Jae-won. Her multilingual skills, ongoing competitive success, and elite background significantly enrich our training environment.
